Alopecia treatment involves medical therapies designed to slow hair thinning and support healthy regrowth in areas affected by hair loss. Our physicians assess the scalp, identify the type and cause of hair loss, and recommend appropriate treatments including PRP, topical or injectable therapies.
A physician examines the affected area to confirm alopecia areata and rule out other causes of hair loss.
2
Treatment selection
We recommend topical steroids, intralesional steroid injections, or a combined plan based on the pattern and severity.
3
Injection (if used)
Steroid is injected directly into the bald patch with a fine needle. Most patients tolerate the brief pinprick well.
4
Regrowth
Hair often begins to regrow within 4–6 weeks. Sessions can be repeated every 6–8 weeks until satisfied.

Real stories from mole-removal patients
I highly recommend that you visit this clinic for any mole concerns that you may have.
Dr. Khan and his lovely assistant made me feel very comfortable as they assessed my concern over a mole on my face. They decided that complete removal was the best route to go and I trusted them completely.
I apologize that I forgot his assistants name. She took her time to precisely place the needles to freeze the area, ensuring me that I wouldn't feel any discomfort.
She was absolutely right. Dr. Khan also, didn't proceed without ensuring the same painless experience.
The procedure was indeed quick and painless. Thank you both very much.
I am looking so forward to having the stitches removed to see the incredible job that Dr. Khan did with this removal.
Thank you,
Lee Marcucci

Alopecia is a medical condition and treatment is covered by OHIP.
Is this procedure painful?+
This condition is treated by topical creams or ointments but sometimes steroid injections into the affected areas are also used. With steroid injections there is some minor pinprick discomfort, but the vast majority of patients tolerate the injections well.
What types of Alopecia do you treat?+
We treat the condition called Alopecia areata, where there is a well-defined hairless patch. We treat this on the scalp and in the beard area.
When will I see results?+
With topical steroid creams and ointments, results can be seen within weeks to two months. Steroid injections into the hairless patches generally work more quickly, with results seen within four to six weeks.
How many treatments will I need?+
You may need one to two treatments or more for steroid injections. These are done at six-to-eight-week intervals. You can continue the injections until you are satisfied — most patients only need 1–2 treatments.
Can alopecia treatment be combined with other therapies?+
Yes — alopecia treatment can be combined with other therapies. For example, PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment for hair restoration can be combined with steroid injections. PRP treatment can only be done at least a month after the last steroid injection.
